Dr. Morid is an assistant professor of the Department of Information Systems and Analytics in the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University since 2018. He teaches Information Systems courses at the undergraduate and master level.

Dr. Morid’s research focus is on the intersection of information systems and biomedical informatics. He is particularly interested in predictive analytics for healthcare big data using machine learning techniques. He has also worked on other big data analytics venues such as E-Banking, Fraud and Outlier Detection, Personalization and Recommender Systems. His current research focus is on leveraging temporal patient data (extracted from electronic health records, medical claims, etc.) for healthcare predictive analytics. His research has been published and presented in refereed journals and conferences such as Journal of Biomedical Informatics, Information Retrieval Journal, Journal of Electronic Commerce, American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) and Conference on Health IT and Analytics (CHITA). He has worked with hospitals, insurance companies and banks in various projects.

Dr. Morid earned his Ph.D. in Information Systems from University of Utah in 2018. He received his B.S. degree in Software Engineering and M.S. degree in Electronic Commerce from Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic).
