The Bronco Ventures Idea Lab is an interdisciplinary program that exposes the attendees to the core concepts of design thinking, including ideation and pitching. The program is divided into two six week modules: Ideation that is offered during the Fall and Pitching that is offered in the Spring. Attendees can take one or both modules. The ideation module will provide you with the tools and techniques to empathize with the customers, deeply understand their pain points, generate human-centered solutions, and test the feasibility of potential solutions. The pitching module will empower you to storytell your idea with passion and enthusiasm, attract the interest of the different stakeholders, and enhance the visibility of your offering. Idea Lab is fun and informative and open to everyone in the Santa Clara University community, including graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Upon completion of the program, attendees will receive a certificate of participation.
Each module meets for six sessions on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm. Participants can take one or both modules. The first module (Ideation) is offered in the Fall and the second module (Pitching) is offered in the Spring. In addition to the six sessions, participants will have to spend around one hour per week working on their projects.
No, Idea Lab is completely free.
The Fall module (Ideation) will help the participants design a business idea, which they can use to apply to the Bronco Ventures' more advanced Prep School and further develop their ideas into start-ups with the help of the Bronco Ventures network. Beyond Prep School, participants can then apply to the Bronco Venture Accelerator, where they will have the opportunity to receive funding for their start-up.
While Idea Lab is designed for first-time founders and very early-stage businesses, later-stage businesses are welcome to attend as well. The principles and sessions are valuable for any founder.
