Judges' Information
The Senior Design Conference is a showcase and competition for our engineering seniors' projects. School of Engineering alumni and friends are invited to participate as judges, evaluating a number of senior design presentations.
Thank you for your interest in judging the Santa Clara University Senior Design Conference. Registration to judge this year's Conference will be open March 18 – April 12. Please use the Preliminary 2024 Senior Design Session Schedule to help choose your preferred sessions. Please note that the schedule is a work-in-progress and may have changes prior to the May 9 Senior Design Conference. You should receive a confirmation email of your judging acceptance around April 19.
Important Information about Judging
Our seniors will present their projects between 17 sessions, in person, with judges and guests. Each session will also be live-streamed for a wider audience of viewers via the Senior Design viewing portal that will be available on our website. A maximum of 10 judges per session will be assigned, with priority going to those whose experience best aligns with the session. Once the cap has been reached, we will start a waitlist for each session.
To ensure a seamless experience for our students and the audience, strict requirements, outlined below, are necessary for this year’s judges. Those who are unable to meet the criteria for judging are encouraged to watch the presentations online, or join us as guests, rather than registering as a judge. Whichever way you choose to participate, we will be delighted to have you with us!
To qualify for judging the Senior Design Conference, participants must:
- be in person
- bring a fully-charged laptop, tablet, or mobile phone (and connect to SCU Guest Wifi) in order to evaluate projects
- be present for judge orientation promptly at 1:30 p.m.
- commit to participating for the full duration of the Senior Design Conference on May 9, beginning with check-in from 12 - 1:15 p.m. and their assigned sessions lasting as late as 5:30 p.m.
- complete an evaluation form for each presentation within the assigned session
- complete an evaluation of the overall session, an assessment of our program in preparing students for their engineering professions
- agree that by registering to judge, you accept that your participation will be captured as part of a livestream presentation
Registration to judge this year's Conference is open March 18. Please register by April 12 in order to have your name appear in the program. Before registering, please consider the criteria outlined above, and check the Preliminary 2024 Senior Design Session Schedule to determine which session you wish to judge.
Note: SCU faculty advisors match judges with sessions, and their decision is final.
