2017 Senior Design Participation Opportunities

The School of Engineering is providing some new opportunities for our alumni/ae to become involved with our Senior Design projects this year. There are two new ways in which you can become involved: 

• volunteering to participate in department design reviews prior to the Senior Design Conference; and
• serving as a mentor to specific projects. 

Department Design Reviews:

Each department has periodic design reviews throughout the winter quarter. Schedules are different for each department. If you are interested in serving as an evaluator for these reviews, we will pass along your information to the appropriate department. 

Project Mentoring:

Senior Design groups who are interested in working with alumni/ae mentors have opted into this opportunity. You will be able to read about these projects in the PDF below. If you are interested in serving as a mentor, your contact information will be provided to the appropriate group(s) in January. The group will then initiate contact with you. 

Alumni/ae Mentors would NOT be expected to:

• Propose project ideas (projects are already defined)
• Give final approval on project details (faculty advisors have final say)

Please note that Alumni/ae Mentors will not be able to judge a Senior Design Session that contains a group that they have mentored. A separate solicitation for Senior Design Conference judges will be sent at a later time.
