About Gabrielle Pitre

Gabrielle Pitre ’26 is majoring in political science and ethnic studies. In high school, she became immersed in literature around race and identity connected to both politics and ethics. This focused study has continued at Santa Clara. After earning her bachelor's degree, Gabrielle hopes to go to law school to continue to learn how to work in collaboration to make an impact on people's lives through racial justice. As a Hackworth Fellow, she conducted research on the role of the Catholic Church in the institution of American slavery and how Black Catholics such as her own family reconcile this complicated history. Through this research fellowship, Gabrielle has continued to grow her knowledge of how ethics plays a role in the politics of our nation, and in turn, positively impacts the lives of individuals and communities.
