Sophie Smithstanza '26 was a 2024-25 Hackworth Fellow who examined the ethical implications of AI in the classroom.

About Sophie Smithstanza

Sophie Smithstanza '26 is majoring in Accounting with a History minor. During her time at Santa Clara, she has been on the Women's Cross Country and Track team and the Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Sophie has a passion for AI and is planning on conducting research and developing a framework for effectively incorporating AI into the classroom, with an emphasis on setting parameters that foster critical thinking. She hopes to educate both students and professors on the importance of creating guidelines for how to utilize AI in the classroom but to not allow AI to take over.
