Amazon's Deal to Buy One Medical Sparks Data Privacy Concerns

Irina Raicu, director, internet ethics, interviewed by NBC Bay Area.

A planned Amazon buyout of primary healthcare provider One Medical could make healthcare more convenient, but the merger has some Bay Area patients nervous about privacy concerns of what the tech giant might do with patient data and the impact on patient privacy.

"Data flows pretty freely between different parts of Amazon, and so they're worried about any data being used for very different purposes other than just their healthcare," said Irina Raicu, Markkula Center's director of internet ethics.
