Bill Awaiting Governor's Signature Would Increase Oversight on Online Charitable Fundraising

KQED’s Rachel Myrow interviewed Joan Harrington for a story on KQED's “California Report.”

A bill, on Governor Newsom's desk promises to boost state oversight of charitable fundraising online. 

"It's really amazing how long it's gone unregulated," notes Joan Harrington, director of social sector ethics.

"There isn't a lot of oversight from government. It is the Attorney General's office who regulates charities and they are very busy with other things."
