Former Google Employees File Suit, say Tech Giant Discriminates Against Black Workers

Don Heider, executive director at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, interviewed by CBS 5 KPIX.

Former Google employees, including a diversity recruiter, have accused the tech giant of discrimination against Black employees. Don Heider, executive director, spoke with KPIX reporter, Kiet Do, about the lawsuit and the importance of culture within an organization, stressing that changing any corporate culture is a painful process that takes years.

"Be willing to listen to people, hear what some of the issues are, and start making endemic change...so that when you hire new folks from different backgrounds they feel welcome and they feel included, and they feel like they have a stake in your venture. Otherwise, you're going to have a disaster on your hands."
