Neurons in a Dish Learn to Play Pong

Brian Green, director of technology, published by the Institute of Art and Ideas.

Cortical Labs, a biological computing startup, has created a network of neurons known as DishBrain capable of playing the video game Pong. Growing neurons in a dish is, of course, bound to create concerns when it comes to ethics and human morality, which Brian Green explains.

Green says, "The prospect of computers powered by neurons raises for us not only the question of suffering, but also of desire and volition."
