David DeCosse, director of religious and Catholic ethics, quoted in Religion News.

Speaking to diplomats during his yearly speech, Pope Francis criticized the way rich countries often impose their culture on poorer ones, erasing the native cultures of these areas. The pope has also established new methods of communication and transparency within the church in order to reexamine the church's antiquated structures.

“Within the church this openness of communication has been really nicely signaled and reaffirmed by Pope Francis in his use of synods,” said David DeCosse, director of religious and Catholic ethics at Santa Clara University.
