Irina Raicu, Director of Internet Ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, says technology companies are increasingly recognizing their responsibility in the spread of shooters’ manifestos, and hate speech in general.

“I think a lot of tech companies are very uncomfortable with this new role, and they don’t feel qualified and they’re trying to pull in more voices and other kinds of expertise to help them,” said Raicu, “I can understand the discomfort, and I can understand the call for that burden to be taken from [Prince]. But the question is, by whom? Who should be making those decisions?”
