SCU has 9 chartered student organizations (CSOs) including a community service organization, multicultural center, newspaper, yearbook, literary magazine, radio station, outdoor wilderness group, programming board, and student government.

In addition to CSOs, SCU has over 170 registered student organizations (RSOs or clubs). RSOs fall within a variety of categories including academic, business, cultural, engineering, faith-based, performing arts, professional, recreational, service, social justice, and special interest.

Club sports teams compete against other schools but not through the NCAA. There are 22 club sports teams including co-ed teams as well as sports that have women's and men's teams.

Intramural sports leagues are offered each quarter with various leagues in terms of skill level (beginner to advanced) and format (co-ed leagues, women's leagues, and men's leagues).

Become a vital part of the SCU Athletics game day atmosphere by joining the Pep Band or Dance Team!

Each of the 9 Residential Learning Communities (RLCs) has a Leadership Council which plans activities and events for the residents of that specific hall.

Campus Ministry has opportunities for students to engage with religion and faith at SCU such as Christian Life Community (CLC) and other student organizations, liturgies, resident ministry, retreats, sacramental formation, and much more!

The Center for Sustainability empowers SCU students, faculty, and staff to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world by hosting events and programs, implement initiatives, provide strategic consultation, and share stories that help the University achieve climate neutrality, practice mindful consumption, develop a culture of sustainability and use the campus as a living laboratory.

At SCU, students, faculty and staff engage in global programs and initiatives around the world.

  • Over one-third of SCU students participate in at least one program abroad during their time in college.
  • Research and global expertise take students and faculty to far-flung places ranging from Nicaragua to Nigeria.
  • International students choose SCU for the quality of our academic programs, our focus on social justice, and our Silicon Valley location.

The Ciocca Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship helps fill the strong desire of entrepreneurial students at our Silicon Valley-based campus for support, mentorship, thought leadership, competitions, experiential opportunities, future-minded research, and exposure to every aspect of the entrepreneurial experience.

The Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education exemplifies and activates the Jesuit, Catholic character of Santa Clara University by encouraging our students, faculty, staff, and community to embrace Jesuit wisdom by inspiring awareness, thought, reflection, discernment, and action.

The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics brings the traditions of ethical thinking to bear on real world problems. Beyond a full range of events, grants, and fellowships for the Santa Clara University community, the Center also serves professionals in fields from business to health care, from government to the social sector, providing innovative approaches to problems. Through our website and international collaborations, we also bring ethical decision making resources to the wider world.
