Identity-based communities connect Broncos based on their shared cultural, racial, or personal identities. These communities provide alumni of diverse backgrounds a comfortable environment for networking and socializing, as well as opportunities to honor shared heritage and experiences. All who identify with or support these communities are welcome to join!

Karl Kuehn
Karl Kuehn is a 2006 graduate of Santa Clara University. While at SCU, he studied art history and dance, and was very involved in the SCU community as a writer for The Santa Clara, the winner of the first Mr. Alpha-Arts pageant, an associated student government class justice, and the infamous Bucky the Bronco mascot. Upon graduation, Karl danced professionally around the world, and is currently the Upper School Dance Director at The Harker School in San Jose. Karl is very excited to further build and develop the LGBTQ+ alumni network and continue the momentum to better serve the greater SCU community!

Matthew Hatzke
Matthew Hatzke is a 2007 graduate of Santa Clara University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. During his time at Santa Clara, he played on the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer team. Following graduation, he was drafted in the Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft in 2008 by the Los Angeles Galaxy. Matt was later traded and played the 2008 season with the San Jose Earthquakes. Following his career in soccer, he came out publicly on Outsports.com and is recognized as 1 of 2 former MLS players to come out publicly as gay.
