Santa Clara University Executive MBA Enrollment Sets National Standard Women Represent Nearly Half of the New Fall Class

Santa Clara, CA September 10, 2019 – The Santa Clara University Executive MBA program (EMBA) started classes on August 6th with an increase of more than 50% in class size.  The newly re-designed program has been recently ranked 13th in the nation, according to US News and World Report.

This Fall’s class stands out for its gender balance, quality, and experience.  Forty-eight percent of the incoming class is female, topping a national norm of 30%.  The in-coming class average age is 41 years, significantly more seasoned than the national average of 38 years.

“We have built the Executive MBA curriculum on four of the most sought-after leadership competencies in Silicon Valley, according to substantial market research we conducted with Bay Area business leaders,” explains Dr. Kumar Sarangee, the program’s Director. The foundational competencies encompass both quantitative aptitude as well as highly valued soft skills, such as strategic leadership, innovative and entrepreneurial thinking, cross functional execution and analytical decision making.

The 20-month program has been designed to develop innovative leaders and entrepreneurial executives who can implement creative solutions to critical business problems in dynamic, fast cycle environments. Classes are held twice a month on Fridays from 5 pm to 9 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm, providing the flexibility and convenience required by today’s busy executive leaders.  Above-and-beyond a comprehensive, required core curriculum, students can personalize their education through a number of innovative, advanced electives.

The program goes beyond the traditional “lecture and learn” format. It includes hands-on learning such as executive-led professional communications sessions and leadership exercises, along with crisis management, mindfulness and innovation simulations. Classes are action learning oriented with actual company projects. Customized workshops on technology management and legal fundamentals, along with distinguished speaker forums, round out the program.

The EMBA experience also augments coursework and provides a unique “Personal Branding” program as a value-add for students’ professional advancement. This program includes 3 workshops, and 2 one-on-one executive coaching sessions for each student, moderated by highly seasoned industry experts.
