Areas of Interest at SCU and LSB:  As a Marketing major and Innovation & Design Thinking minor, I have become heavily involved in clubs such as the Latinx Business Student Association and the SCU Maker Club. Both of these have given me a broader perspective of marketing, product design, and product management.

What are your SCU and LSB activities/general hobbies:  Activities and clubs I am involved in include the Leavey Ambassadors Program, LEAD Scholars Program, the Latinx Student Union, SCU My Own Business Institute (MOBI), SCU Maker Club, and the Latino Business Student Association. Some hobbies that I have picked up while at SCU include playing intramural sports, photography, and occasional trips to San Jose or Santa Cruz.

What global experiences have you had in college? In Summer 2022, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I took a course in Strategic Leadership. While abroad, I also took part in a week-long study tour to learn and investigate the importance of leadership and strategic planning.

What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB?  From 2021-2023, I was fortunate enough to be a student worker for SCU MOBI, a career development website that anyone in the world can access to start or expand their own business! When I was promoted as the head marketing intern, I worked on social media, newsletters, marketing analytics, and translating things to Spanish.

Favorite LSB Class and Why? My favorite class by far has been OMIS 34: Information Systems with Professor Sur. This class looks at the relationship between science, information technology, and business, and Professor Sur does a great job of making the class really interactive. I got the chance to learn new skills such as HTML and CSS coding to make personal websites, which have proven to be very useful and fun.

What made you choose to attend LSB?  There were many factors that led me to choose to attend the Leavey School of Business, but the two major factor ones were location and class size. I knew I wanted to stay in California and I also wanted to be in a classroom where I could develop connections with my peers and professors.

What advice you wish you had while applying to college?  When I was applying to college, I was scared of moving away from home and I was unsure of how I would handle everything. I wish I would have known to not be afraid to ask for help and take chance to connect with others! It is important to remember that we're all a bunch of nervous first years, so don’t be afraid to reach out to other students so that you can make new friends and be a part of new experiences!
