What was one of your favorite classes? ELSJ: I got the opportunity to volunteer at an organization, 'The Community Grocer'. Working at an NGO in a different continent really opened my eyes to the difference in work ethic and environment. Having also volunteered in India and the United States, it's captivating to see the varying degrees of the same problem and the steps taken by different governments and organizations.
What did you like about your program/university? My program offered be the housing option to stay in a student accommodation known as 'Iglu'. Living in this accommodation, I was introduced to people from all around the world and made some life-long friends that I had wonderful experiences with.
What was your favorite place that you visited or favorite part about your city? My favorite place was St. Kilda Beach.
What advice would you give to the 2024 abroad students? Don't expect your study abroad experience to be wonderful from the get-go. There is a learning curve and adjusting period to a new place, school, life. Give yourself time and don't be too hard on yourself if you don't enjoy it in the beginning.
