Remembering Eric Hanson
Eric O. Hanson, the Patrick A. Donohoe, S.J., Professor in Political Science passed away on July 7, 2017 after a short illness. Eric anchored the Political Science Department for more than four decades. Deeply committed to the values of a Jesuit education, he was a passionate and award-winning teacher as well as a pioneer in the use of experiential learning placements in the many communities that make up Silicon Valley. He was also a respected scholar of Chinese politics and of the ways that religion and politics intersect. Read more about Eric’s life and legacy.
In honor of Eric’s memory and commitment to our students, we have established the Eric Hanson Alumni Speaker Series (EHASS). Every year, we bring back to campus a department graduate who shares his or her expertise and experience with current students. We invite alumni of diverse experience including those with careers in education, government, the non-profit sector, and the private sector. Suggestions for possible speakers can be emailed to polisci@scu.edu.
If you are in a position to honor Eric’s memory, please consider making a gift. After payment has been entered, add Eric Hanson's name to the "in memory of" field. Thank you for your support.
