The purpose of the project is to provide beekeepers with increased flexibility of controlling their hives through a device or with timed opening/closing capabilities. The student’s final design utilizes a pulley door actuation system, using a servo motor, that lifts the door up and down. The servo motor is controlled by utilizing an arduino microprocessor connected to a WiFi module, and it’s powered by a 9V battery. For future development, the team has a vision to create an app to increase accessibility.
