Debbie Dembecki is the assistant director, digital marketing at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics where she leads design and promotion efforts and day-to-day marketing strategy relating to online resources and materials drawn from programs within the Ethics Center. She seeks to expand the reach and visibility of those resources to new audiences.

Previously, Dembecki managed the Business Ethics Internship program, overseeing content and events on business and leadership and working with the senior director of Leadership Ethics to foster the Center’s relationship with Silicon Valley business leaders.

Dembecki’s earlier experiences include 18 years as director of social strategy and content programming for LiveWorld, a social strategy marketing agency, where she assisted Fortune 500 companies with online branding and social engagement. Dembecki also ran an independent marketing consultancy providing service to small business and nonprofit organizations.

She began her career as an educator in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Arizona, where she taught K-3 elementary students and served as assistant principal for a K-6 school with over 1,000 students. She also taught continuing education courses at the district level, and was a mentor for new student teachers from various university teaching programs in the Phoenix area.

She serves on the Board of Directors and oversees marketing for Playful People Productions, a community theater in San Jose.

Before moving to the Bay Area, Dembecki resided in Connecticut and Arizona. She holds a bachelor of science degree in Elementary and Special Education, and a master’s degree in Education from Northern Arizona University.
