Relating to two investigations regarding potential ethical violations in the allocation of program funds to law enforcement individuals, The Ithaca Voice reached out to John Pelissero, senior scholar specializing in government ethics with the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics for an interpretation of the case from an ethical perspective.

“The thing about applied ethics in the public sector is you can have something that is not illegal, but can still be unethical,” Pelissero said. “Particularly if there’s the perception on the part of the public that something is not being done correctly or appropriately in city government.”
