One of Trump’s Library Funds has Mysteriously Dissolved, but a Lack of Transparency Keeps the Public in the Dark
OpenSecrets reports Florida officials have administratively dissolved a nonprofit fund connected to President Donald Trump’s planned presidential library because it failed to submit a mandatory annual report.
Federal law does not mandate donor disclosure for presidential libraries, which raises “serious ethical concerns” for the library efforts of any president, regardless of party, said Davina Hurt, director of government ethics.
"This becomes especially problematic when the beneficiary still wields executive power, making it impossible for citizens to distinguish between legitimate historical preservation and attempts to curry favor with those in authority — potentially including foreign donors, business partners, or individuals seeking governmental influence,” Hurt told OpenSecrets.
