Authorization to Post to Email-Distribution Lists

To request authorization to post to any of the restricted email-distribution lists, send an email to the list managers; be sure to include a concise justification for why you need authorization to post.

SCU-Faculty and SCU-Staff

These lists are for campus events and general-interest announcements for the SCU community. Departments and offices can request approval to post announcements to one or both of these lists by emailing the List Administrator (listadministrator@scu.edu) with a brief justification for why you need to post, and to which list(s). Once you receive approval, forward your approved request to the Technology Help Desk (techdesk@scu.edu) to get set up for posting.

SCU-Faculty-Essential and SCU-Staff-Essential

Send an e-mail to Molly McDonald for authorization to post to these lists; be sure to include a concise justification for why you need authorization to post. Once you receive approval, forward your approved request to the Technology Help Desk (techdesk@scu.edu) to get set up for posting.

SCU-Grad-Essential and SCU-UGrad-Essential

Send an e-mail to Jeanne Rosenberger for authorization to post to these lists; be sure to include a concise justification for why you need authorization to post. Once you receive approval, forward your approved request to the Technology Help Desk (techdesk@scu.edu) to get set up for posting.

SCU-Student-Events

The SCU-Student-Events was setup up for and is managed by the Associated Student Government (ASG).  The ASG uses the SCU-Student-Events to communicate with its constituents, and a representative from the ASG is the list owner.  Any message posted to the SCU-Student-Events list by faculty, staff, students, or departments may be held for moderation and will be reviewed and acted upon by the list owner.

Who grants authorization for the SCU-Student-Events list depends on the classification of potential poster.

For Students:

Students can post messages to the SCU-Student-Events list, however, those messages will be held for moderation. Once a message is held for moderation, a message will be sent to the list owner for action. The held message will either be accepted or rejected/discarded. If you would like to be able to post to the SCU-Student-Events list without being held for moderation, please contact the ASG representative (call 554-4410 for a contact name) in charge of maintaining the SCU-Student-Events list.

For Faculty and Staff:

Faculty and staff can post messages to the SCU-Student-Events list, however, those messages will be held for moderation. As the list owner, the ASG Representative, makes the sole determination on what action is taken for a message. The list owner may accept the message for posting as-is, hold the message and include it in a later digest, modify the message prior to accepting the message, or reject/discard the message. If you would like to contact the list owner, please send an e-mail to the owner of the SCU-Student-Events list (SCU-Student-Events-Owner@lists.scu.edu).

For Departments:

If your department would like to post messages to theSCU-Student-Events list using a generic or "Departmental" address, please send an e-mail to the owner of the SCU-Student-Events list (SCU-Student-Events-Owner@lists.scu.edu) requesting authorization. Please include a concise justification for why you need authorization. Once you receive authorization to post to the list, messages posted will still be held for moderation to ensure the messages meet the list owner's requirements.

SCU-Grad-Events

The SCU-Grad-Events list uses a similar process for moderating messages. If your department would like to post messages to the SCU-Grad-Events list, please send an e-mail to the owner of the list (SCU-Grad-Events-Owner@lists.scu.edu).
