How to Update Zoom Desktop Application

Upgrade now to Zoom ver. 5.17.0

Zoom is setting a minimum version requirement of 05.17.0.

Beginning on Monday, April 29 at 5 PM, you will need Zoom version 5.17.0 or later to be able to host and/or join meetings.  Follow the instructions below if you need assistance updating your Zoom client to the latest version.

If you have a university-managed machine and do not see a “Check for Update” menu item, then your computer is managed by BigFix, and you will not need to do anything further.

Please note that you will not be able to update the Zoom application from the MySCU Portal page or Camino, you need to open the Zoom application on your computer. Below are instructions on how to open the Zoom application for both Mac and PC users. If you are not sure you have the Zoom application installed, please check the section I can't find the Zoom icon on my computer to download and install the latest version.

Click the Window icon (Start Menu) at the bottom left corner of the computer screen > Scroll down and look for Zoom.

Click the blue Zoom icon to open the desktop application.

Click the Zoom icon on the dock at the bottom of the screen to open the Zoom desktop application.

If you cannot find the icon on your dock, you can open a Finder window:

Navigate to the Application Tab, then scroll through your applications to find the Zoom application icon.  Double click the Zoom icon to open the application.

Quick Tip

You can also click on the Magnifying Glass on the top right corner of your screen (or use the Command + Space key shorcut) to open Spotlight.

Once the Spotlight window pops up, type in "Zoom" in the search window and you should find the Zoom application if it is already installed on your computer.

Please note that if you are using a university-owned computer, BigFix will no longer auto update the zoom client app if you choose to reinstall it from the Zoom website.

If you are having issues locating your Zoom desktop application, please visit scu.zoom.us/download to download and install the latest version of the Zoom software.
