SCU Microfinance Organization 2018
SCU Microfinance 2016
Long Le became the faculty advisor for the new SCU Student Microfinance Organization in Fall of 2016. This student organization is currently working on providing zero interest loans to small family farmers to promote rural development and organic farming. One of the first loans will be given to Marsha Habib from Oya Organics in Hollister that will provide an eco-friendly farming equipment.
This loan is also in partnership with Bon Appetit who has provided empty rice bags that our students turned into rice bag backpacks and sold to support the program. Bon Appetit will help support Marsha's organic vegetables and its supply to SCU's Adobe Restaurant. The SCU Microfinance Organization plans to arrange workshops for small farmers who need advice on business accounting and managing small businesses.
