Jasmine Lam: Reflection on Being a PCC

PCC 2023-24

What are your top two career prep recommendations?
My top two career prep recommendations would be to:

  1. Stay organized. It is important to have a running spreadsheet of internships and jobs you apply for with links and deadlines to stay on track. This helps you refer back to what you have applied for and places you are waiting to hear back from.  Utilizing this sheet throughout your time in college and beyond will be uber useful in the long run.
  2. Network. Don’t be afraid to reach out to working professionals for coffee chats, they love to interact with passionate and curious students. You should utilize your student status to talk to and learn from as many professionals as possible.

Why do you enjoy being a PCC?
I enjoy being a PCC because of the impact that I can make on fellow students. Coming out of each PCC meeting, I hope the student gained some insight and direction as to where they want to take their career, major, and time at SCU. The feeling of being able to support other people through the process of figuring out the opportunities within their major or prep for job recruiting is super rewarding. Additionally, I greatly enjoy the professional development opportunities that our cohort receives during PCC meetings, including a multitude of guest speakers and alumni panels.
