Co-op Course Enrollment

Students who have already identified and secured a co-op opportunity must review the following guidelines:

(In the following "XXXX" stands for the four letter subject code of each department offering the co-op)

XXXX 188. Co-op Education
Integration of classroom study and practical experience in a planned program designed to give students practical work experience related to their academic field of study and career objectives. Satisfactory completion of the work assignment includes preparation of a summary report on co-op activities and reflection on learning. P/NP grading. May not be taken for graduate credit. (1-2 units)

To enroll in XXXX 188:

Complete Petition for Independent Study Form (choose “Internship” from the menu):

  1. "Course Description" - Practical experience in a planned program designed to give students practical work experience related to their academic field of study and career objectives. Satisfactory completion includes submission of a summary report on co-op activities and reflection on learning.
  2. Work assignment must be approved by faculty advisor/instructor.
  3. The following information must be provided to your advisor for approval of the internship:
    1. Identification of the work placement, along with a description of responsibilities including hours per week
    2. Name of supervisor (who must submit to instructor a written evaluation of the student's performance at completion of the work assignment)
