Pronouns: she/her

Sumayyah is currently in her last year of the Counseling Psychology Masters program at S.C.U. , with the goal of working towards being a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For her undergrad, she attended Mission College for two years and received an Associate Degree in Psychology. She then transferred to U.C. Davis and completed a B.S. degree in Human Development and a B.A. degree in Psychology. Sumayyah dreamed of becoming a therapist since her early teens when she faced her own struggles with mental health and observed that many of her peers also faced mental illness without any support. Those moments made her aware of how much society urgently needs to provide more resources and support for individuals of all ages who are facing mental health challenges. Since then, Sumayyah has taken on various roles in the mental health advocacy space and is dedicated to becoming a competent clinician. She is passionate about utilizing client-centered, relational, evidence-based, and trauma-informed approaches in her work as a therapist.
