What is the Maker Lab?
The Maker Lab is a hands-on prototyping space for designing and building projects. The Lab has hand tools, 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mills, sewing machine, soldering stations, and more. Check out of full list of Tools & Equipment here.
Who can use the Maker Lab?
The Maker Lab is available for all current Santa Clara University students, staff, and faculty. We are working on opening our doors to Santa Clara University Alumni to also use the Lab through our Maker Lab Alumni Membership Program.
What is required for a Maker Lab Alumni Membership?
Must be an alumni of Santa Clara University
Must complete the Maker Lab Alumni Membership Form
Must provide Certificate of Insurance
Must complete Maker Lab training
Must agree to abide by Maker Lab use policies and the supervision of the designated Maker Lab supervisor
Interested in networking and mentoring SCU students in the Maker Lab
When can alumni use the Maker Lab?
We have set weekday evening and Saturday hours that alumni can use the Lab. We will offer a minimum of 10 hours per week with at least 2 hours three weekday evenings and 4 hours on Saturdays. Hours will be offered weeks 2-9 of the quarter. We will have select equipment available to reserve via google calendar appointments (Gmail account required). During the hours, alumni are still welcome to come and use open equipment without a reservation. This time will also be available for current SCU students, staff, and faculty to use the Lab.
During the Winter quarter, alumni hours will be held on the evenings of Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday along with Saturday mornings.
Alumni are not allowed to use their Maker Lab Alumni Membership for company work or plans to make a profit. If your company is interested in having access to the Maker Lab while creating an educational experience for current students, please contact us.
How much does a Maker Lab Alumni Membership Cost?
We are offering an introductory fee of $125 for the Winter quarter. This will include access to the Maker Lab a minimum of 10 hours per week for 8 weeks. Alumni are responsible for providing their own materials or purchasing select materials in the Lab through our Maker Lab Store.
A minimum of 10 alumni must sign up or the program will be postponed. Space is limited!
