Author Aslan and CWCLUB President Duffy highlighted

Executive Director Kirk Hanson moderated two recent events at the Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco. On December 1, guest speaker Reza Aslan, author of God: A Human History, challenged the audience to consider the role of God in our everyday lives. According Aslan, our desire to humanize God is hardwired in our brains, making it a central feature of nearly every religious tradition. On Jan. 18, Hanson interviewed Gloria Duffy, president and CEO of the Commonwealth Club of California,  for "Getting Things Done," a discussion of five public policy dilemmas in which she was directly involved, and approaches that yielded successful results. The cases ranged from an environmental conflict over San Jose’s Central Park, to sexual misconduct on a college campus, to the removal of nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union.
