The Center’s new executive director, Don Heider, received the 2017 Scripps Howard Foundation Administrator of the Year from the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). The award was presented August 6 at the association’s conference in Washington, DC.
Heider received the honor for his work as dean of the School of Communication at Loyola University Chicago and for service to the AEJMC, the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC), and Accredited Council of Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC).
The AEJMC statement read, "Don Heider’s leadership in AEJMC, ASJMC and ACEJMC give him the national visibility that winners should have, plus he has built a stellar school of communication from scratch. His commitment to diversity, the creative programs and partnerships he’s initiated in the community … are all highlights of his leadership."
