Tech Industry Leaders Endorse Regulating Artificial Intelligence at Rare Summit in Washington

Irina Raicu, director, internet ethics, interviewed by NBC Bay Area.

Government and tech industry leaders met on Capitol Hill to discuss the promise and concerns of AI at the first closed-door senate forum on the topic of AI. The summit was led by Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, and was attended by leading tech executives including Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk.

Though Irina Raicu, director, internet ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics notes, there should be more perspectives in the room, not just AI related CEO's.

"It would have been really interesting to hear from let's say from artists who are impacted by their data being captured in these training sets for AI. I think it would have been really interesting to hear from people who are wrongly identified by facial recognition."
