Single Sign-On FAQ
Whether you’re just getting started with our single sign on or you are curious about a new feature, this FAQ will walk you through the answers to all of your Single Sign-On questions.
What is Single Sign-On?
SCU's Single Sign-On system is a single integrated platform that will allow you to sign in once and access all of your apps as usual, without logging in again. All of your apps will be conveniently located at the SCU Portal at scu.edu/login.
Which apps are available?
Google apps and Camino are currently available for Single Sign-On.
Which apps aren’t available for Single Sign-On?
Many of your favorite apps are coming soon! If you check out the right sidebar at scu.edu/login, you will see a list of some of the common apps that are in development to be integrated with SCU's Single Sign-On system.
Do I have to access my apps from scu.edu/login?
Many apps will recognize you as an SCU login when you go directly to an app (for example, by going to mail.google.com.) If you are already logged into your single sign-on, you will be logged into the app as well. If not, you will be redirected to the single sign-on login page, then taken to the app after you log in.
Not all apps are able to recognize you as an SCU login. Using the SCU Portal will always work in this situation.
What happens if the single sign-on system goes down?
If the single sign-on system were to go down, you would not be able to login to your applications via single sign-on. This is why there are multiple levels of redundancy built into the system, and so, should the worst happen, you may still be able to login to some applications directly. As always, if you are experiencing issues, contact the Technology Help Desk at 408-554-5700.
Access and Credentials
How do I access single sign-on?
Go to scu.edu/login; you will see a login screen in the middle of the page. Enter your SCU network ID (e.g., bbronco) and your password and click Login.
You will now see a dashboard displaying all of your Single Sign-On accessible apps! Simply click on an app’s tile to access it. You will be able to access all of your Single Sign-On apps from the dashboard without signing in again!
What are my username and password?
You will log into the Single Sign-On system using your SCU network ID; for example, bbronco. If you don’t know your username or password, contact the Technology Help Desk at 408-554-5700.
What should I do if I forget my password?
The Single Sign-On system does not currently have a self-service recovery system. Please stop by the Technology Help Desk on the 1st floor of the Library or call us at (408) 554-5700 (x5700 from on campus) for assistance. You can find more information about the password reset process here.
What happens when I log out of an app?
If you log out of a specific app like Gmail, you will be logged out of that specific app and the single sign-on overall. However, if you are logged into another app (like Camino) at the same time, you will remain logged in to that app.
What happens when I log out of the single sign-on system?
When you log out of the SSO system, you will need to enter your username and password to access any new apps. However, you will remain logged in to any apps you already had open.
How do I log out of all of my apps?
To log out of all of your apps, you must log out of each app individually.
What changes are coming in the future?
- For most people, Google apps and Camino are currently supported on the new SSO system. Many other apps are in development or limited release, such as Xfinity, Orgsync, Slate and Handshake.
- Our teams are working on developing exciting and useful new features for SCU’s SSO, so look out for more updates in the future!
How do I access single sign-on?
Mobile devices access single sign on the same way as desktop and laptop devices. Go to scu.edu/login; you will see a login screen in the middle of the page, resized for the smaller mobile screen. Enter your SCU network ID (e.g., bbronco) and your password and click Login.
Can I use email on my mobile device?
SCU use Google Apps for email and calendaring. Modern mobile devices support using our single sign on system to connect Google Apps to native email and calendar programs on mobile devices. Go to scu.edu/
