Areas of Interest at SCU and LSB: I am currently an undeclared business major, however, I plan on majoring in economics with a potential minor in finance. I aim to leverage these interests to pave my path into the consulting or investment banking field!

What are your SCU and LSB activities/general hobbies:  Aside from being a part of the Leavey Ambassadors Program, I am part of Intandesh, the Economics Student Association, Ski Club, and the Finance Association. Some of my hobbies include skiing at Tahoe through the Ski Club, playing sports such as football and golf, going out to Santana Row with friends, and cooking.

What internship/employment opportunities have you taken advantage of at LSB: SCU has many resources when it comes to finding a job/internship. I found the Career Center to be the most helpful because it has many different resources such as utilizing Noël’s help for career guidance, attending job fairs hosted by the Career Center, and perfecting your resume through Vmock or a professional. I also have found Handshake to be extremely beneficial because it not only helps you connect with recruiters and grow your network but also shows potential jobs tailored to you. As a freshman, I hope to land an internship in the future.

Favorite LSB Class and Why?  My favorite class at LSB would undoubtedly be Business 70 with Professor Tim Harris. The class provided a holistic approach to introducing key business concepts and was one of the more practical classes I have taken because Professor Harris does a good job teaching us skills needed in the real world. An example of the real-world application from this class is shown through the Mike’s Bikes simulation because it had us make strategic decisions we would have to make in the real world without any consequences reinforcing the hands-on learning process.

What made you choose to attend LSB?  Having lived in Illinois most of my life I didn’t know much about the Leavey School of Business, but as I researched colleges I found SCU to be the most holistic and well-rounded school out there mainly due to the location and the opportunities within the school. Since we are in the heart of Silicon Valley there are a TON of opportunities around us to strengthen your resume and get ahead in the business world early. LSB helps us take advantage of these opportunities by helping us network with peers and alumni while also providing us with many resources to connect with potential employers. Additionally, the small class sizes help tremendously since you get personalized help while also being able to connect personally with qualified professors who are successful in the field they teach.

What advice you wish you had while applying to college?  If I could go back and share a piece of advice about college applications with my past self, it would be to look for a university that feels like the perfect fit. It might sound a bit cliché, but it’s true in every way. In high school, I was constantly worried about rankings and concerned about what others would think, even if I didn't genuinely connect with the campus and what it had to offer. In my opinion, it's essential to take a more well-rounded approach when looking for colleges and consider what each one can provide to support your personal and academic growth, ensuring you'll be in the best possible position after you graduate.
