Company Tours Preview: How to make the most of the experience

Read what students are saying about the company tours

As winter quarter begins, we’re excited to start our company tour program for the 2021 ACE Cohort. In order to give students a preview of what is to come, students who have previously participated in the program share their experience with us.

What did you enjoy?

“The real life exposure and ability to look into something first hand that I have only ever read about. Experiencing the work atmosphere and being able to look at actual company records and documents was extremely fulfilling and eye-opening.”

“I loved the opportunity to meet with ambitious, driven professionals from a well-regarded, successful company. I would not have otherwise had the opportunity for such a visit, and I truly think the tour was invaluable. I was able to hear from a diverse group of individuals from many different departments at different stages in their careers, which really helped me gain an understanding of the evolution of corporate life at this company.”

“Getting inside an actual company office was really helpful for gaining an understanding of that company’s culture. It was also great to talk to a fellow Santa Clara alum because she felt approachable and relatable.”

Would you recommend participating in the Company Tour program to future students?

“Yes, especially if the [hosts] work in a space that you are interested in pursuing. Hosts can give a good perspective on how to best break into industry from SCU.”

“It’s really eye opening to actually visit the offices of a company, and I think that’s a rare and unique experience. It was helpful for me to see what life might be like after college.”

“It’s kind of like an informational interview, but more intimate because you’re in the company, but these people don’t necessarily want to sell their company to you, they want to help you in your future whether it is at their company or a different one. They are also very interested in keeping in touch and using them as a resource for the future.”

“It’s a great opportunity to meet with someone working in the industry you would be interested in and ACE makes it more valuable as you get to meet with this person in a small group of people, so you have a closer experience and can ask any questions you want.”

“It allows a person to be exposed to the professional world, It acts as a good view of the “transition” from college to professionalism.”

During the month of February we will begin the process of selecting sites and matching up students for visits. More information will be provided at the ACE meeting on February 12.
