Thomas Harrison, a member of the ACE 2015 cohort, is currently the Head of Operations at Whatsgoodly, a digital app company located in Menlo Park. Since Whatsgoodly is an early stage startup, Thomas does a little bit of everything, including content creation and propagation, marketing and growth campaigns, user data and analytics, and client account management. Thomas and other employees of Whatsgoodly will be at Santa Clara University’s Startup Expo on April 5th, so we asked him to share some professional advice for ACE students:

“My first piece of advice for current ACE students is to start reaching out to alumni (especially those in ACE)! Whether you're a sophomore or a senior, you can always benefit from talking to fellow Broncos. You'll find that a lot are doing things you're interested in and can be a great resource for learning more or possibly even getting a foot in the door (never show up with that expectation though). I've never met an alum who wasn't excited to meet or hop on a call to share their insights. My second piece of advice is to take advantage of your free time while in college. Once you're out, you'll find that you're much busier! So if there's anything you want to work on, whether it's learning a programming language, developing a business idea, or learning an instrument, start now! That way when you graduate, you'll already have a solid foundation to build upon. I'd recommend that [you] check out the Startup Expo (and the startup scene in Silicon Valley) regardless of whether you’ve already accepted a job with an established company or plan on working with one. There's such an incredible world of innovation in this area, like no place else in the world, and showing up at the Expo is a small but significant step to discovering it.”

Special thanks to Thomas for sharing his wisdom. Mark your calendars if you are interested in meeting Thomas and attending the Startup Expo. The Expo is on Wednesday, April 5 at 5:30-8:00 PM in the Locatelli Center.
