Justin Filiaggi is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) serving as Santa Clara University's newest Therapist in Residence. Justin brings a wealth of clinical experience, predominantly treating adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He has also worked with incarcerated adolescents and adults, helping facilitate yoga and creative arts as a therapeutic approach to healing. He received his Masters in clinical mental health counseling from Immaculata University in Malvern, PA and received his BA from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA in English and creative writing.
In his therapeutic approach, Justin utilizes a holistic, person centered framework that incorporates modalities of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy. Justin is most enthusiastic about helping his clients discover their most authentic and empowered selves through their strengths, values and the stories they share. Justin also incorporates mindfulness and somatic based techniques to bring about a feeling of inner peace and presence to those he serves.
