Remote access to the ECC

ECC Remote Access

Pre-requisites for remote access

  1. Duo: You will need to have Duo set up. If you already have Duo set up, skip to step 2. If you do not have Duo set up yet, follow the instructions in the Duo Setup Quickstart.

  2. VPN: Next, you will need to download and install the SCU VPN client. Connect to the VPN before you remotely access the ECC. If you do not have the VPN set up yet, follow these instructions.

  3. SCU Username and Password: You will use your SCU Username and Password to connect to the ECC.

  4. OnGuard: To access the ECC from eduroam, your computer must have OnGuard installed and pass all the security checks. To install OnGuard and make sure your computer passes the security checks, follow these instructions.

Before you start:

  • Make sure you have the SCU VPN engaged.
  • If needed, download and install the VMware Horizon client software on your computer.

To download and install the VMware Horizon client software that matches the operating system you are running, start here:
https://www.vmware.com/go/viewclients

Once you have the program installed, run the application. When it starts, click New Server.

When prompted for the Connection Server, type horizon.engr.scu.edu then click Connect.

When prompted for your credentials, enter your SCU Username (in the form of bronco) and your password. Click on the Domain drop-box option and change it from ECC to SCU. Click Login.

If your credentials were entered correctly, you should now see the two "ECC-Windows" icons. Double-click on either icon to connect. Either choice will give you a GPU-accelerated Windows computer running the ECC Windows image, including all standard ECC Windows applications.
