Building for the Future

Building for the Future

Ethics Center student programs build ethical skills for the future.

Nowhere is the value of our work more apparent than with the students participating in Ethics Center programs. Not only are these individuals conducting valuable ethics-focused work now, they are building muscles that will play an important role in their professional careers for decades to come.

In the 2020-21 academic year, more than 50 of SCU’s best and brightest Broncos produced, applied, and shared ethics resources and programs all designed to help individuals, businesses, and governments make choices that respect and care for others.

The goal of the Hackworth Fellowship, supported by a gift from Joan and the late Michael Hackworth, is to have fellows engage more deeply with the application of ethics to a topic of concrete concern, to complete an important project related to that concern, and to grow as an ethical leader. The Health Care Ethics Internship brings SCU students into health care settings where they learn firsthand about the ethical dilemmas providers and health care leaders face. Because of restrictions related to the ongoing pandemic, the program evolved in 2020-21 to include health care and bioethics-related blog content from our interns.
