Engineering Ethics Video

Michael McFarland, SJ

Michael McFarland, SJ, computer scientist and Jesuit priest, talks about why ethics is important for engineers and the impact of his Jesuit education on his interest in the human dimension of engineering. McFarland argues that the discipline of ethics is equal in rigor to engineering.

McFarland, who was president of College of the Holy Cross, is interviewed by Irina Raicu, Internet ethics program manager at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University
