Ethics in Combat

Nathaniel Fick, author of One Bullet Away: The Making of a Marine Officer, spoke with members of the SCU community and the general public in September 2011, as a Regan Lecturer for the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics.

Fick was an infantry officer in Afghanistan and Iraq. His book was a New York Times bestseller and was named one of the "Best Military Books of the Decade" by The Military Times and one of the "Best Books of the Year" by the Washington Post. It was required reading for officers deploying to Afghanistan and Iraq. Fick is now CEO of the Center for a New American Security.
