Neighborhood Units, Fall 2023

Please read the following for important information regarding your move-in process:

Neighborhood Units residents approved to arrive early as part of a training or orientation group, or who volunteer for the welcome weekend will receive an additional email notification with early arrival instructions and their early arrival contract. Residents without early arrival approval are not permitted to arrive on-campus, or drop off belongings, regardless of whether their roommate has checked in, before September 16th.

Neighborhood Unit residents move in on Saturday, September 16, 2022.

ARRIVAL TIMES
Neighborhood Unit residents move in the beginning on Saturday, September 16, 2023, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Please plan to park at your individual Neighborhood Unit, and then walk to the Housing Office located at Benson Memorial Center - 212 to check in.

Returning students must bring their ACCESS credentials to check in at the Housing Office. Students with lost or inactive credentials will be provided a temporary card to gain access to their space, and will then visit the ACCESS Office located on the 1st floor of Benson Memorial Center to arrange for a permanent credential.

OTHER ARRIVAL OPTIONS

Students must check in before 8:00 AM on the first day of classes or provide prior written notice to the Housing Office.

COVID-19 EXPECTATIONS FOR FALL 2023

VACCINE REQUIREMENT

SCU requires the COVID-19 primary series plus a booster OR one dose of the bivalent/updated vaccine. All Santa Clara University students, faculty, and staff are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Students must be complete or in progress of vaccination as of August 1, 2023. All immunization records must be uploaded to the Cowell Health Portal.

International students & global nomads arriving from overseas: Students coming from outside of the US, who have not been able to receive all required immunizations, can finish their vaccinations once arriving at SCU.

It is strongly recommended that any individuals assisting with move-in be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

Testing & Isolation

Nearly 100% of students, faculty, and staff have verified that they are vaccinated and boosted. As we have transitioned towards becoming a highly vaccinated campus community, the threat of severe complications due to COVID-19 has been greatly reduced. Therefore, isolation in University Housing will operate with an isolate-in-place model in the residence hall.

Any student who tests positive for COVID-19 prior to returning to campus may only move in after they have completed their isolation period and are symptom-free. Rapid antigen tests are available from the Test Forms and More! vending machine in the Learning Commons.

Students who test positive for COVID once on campus must isolate for a minimum of 5 days — this means they cannot attend class, labs, or other course activities in person during their isolation period, and must continue to wear a mask through Day 10.

The SCU COVID Support Team responds to every identified positive case of COVID-19 on our campus and provides instructions to resident students for isolation in place.
