Faculty Affairs

What We Do

Santa Clara faculty of all ranks are central to the University’s mission to create a world-class educational experience for our students through cutting-edge research, engaging pedagogies, and service to the community.

Faculty Affairs supports faculty through all career stages, working within shared governance to develop and implement policies and procedures affecting everything from initial appointment through retirement. This includes supporting faculty recruitment, issuing appointment letters for academic year faculty, assisting faculty activities reporting and evaluation, monitoring faculty payroll and annual salary increase and merit evaluation processes, coordinating promotion practices, tracking sabbatical accrual, overseeing available faculty housing programs, and assisting faculty planning for retirement and phased retirement.

We strive in all of these efforts to provide excellent service to the faculty community, to be compassionate and fair, and to listen deeply to the emergent needs that current policies and procedures do not yet adequately address.
