Quick Guide to Proper Sorting

SCU operates a comprehensive university-wide recycling and composting program, diverting about 58% of waste from landfills. You can help in SCU's waste diversion goals by learning what goes where.

You can help the University continue to divert waste from landfills by using the charts below to distinguish between the compostables, recyclables, and landfill waste in our on-campus waste systems. There are also separate charts for residence halls, offices/academic buildings, campus events, as well as info to where our waste goes after leaving campus. For off-campus Santa Clara residents, please also scroll to the bottom to see the waste services provided by the City of Santa Clara.
