ACADEMIC PROGRAMS
The Sustainability Intern for Academic Programs contributes to two of the main goals of the Center for Sustainability: helping the University achieve climate neutrality and using the University campus as a living lab for developing global solutions. This intern will be instrumental in developing marketing for, and assisting in the management of, academic programs and activities, such as the Campus Sustainability Investment Fund, sustainability minor, and living lab database. This intern will directly support the work of the Faculty Associates of the Center for Sustainability.

Qualifications:
Strong writing, marketing, and research skills
Experience with data compilation

BUILDINGS & GROUNDS
This Sustainability Intern for Buildings and Grounds assists the University in working towards the goal of a campus that demonstrates sustainability in structures and landscapes. This intern works closely with University Operations to assess campus water and energy usage, develops plans to mitigate wasted water and electricity while reducing GHG emissions, and promotes a more ecologically sensitive campus to various SCU departments and organizations. The intern knows the ins and outs of SCU’s buildings and grounds and is ready to offer suggestions for more sustainable campus facilities.

Qualifications:
Organized, professional, and confident in speaking and working with University staff and other stakeholders
Comfortable with data analysis and research

COMMUNICATION
The Sustainability Intern for Communication creates and releases content for social media channels as well as on-campus marketing channels (newspaper ads, e-mails, and digital signage). This intern coordinates content development for the monthly e-newsletter--the “Sustainability Update”--and supports the Sustainability Coordinator in developing and updating website content. This intern is important for keeping the campus community up to date regarding the different sustainability projects and activities that take place at SCU and works on the implementation of campaigns. The position works fluidly with the other intern positions to make sure all their projects and events are advertised, marketed, and, in general, communicated to SCU students, faculty, and staff. The intern supports the ongoing task of increasing brand awareness and perception of campus presence, as well as occasional outreach of sharing the SCU Center for Sustainability’s mission to the larger Santa Clara and San Jose communities.

Qualifications:
Strong writing and editing skills
Experience with Photoshop and PowerPoint preferred
Proficient and active on social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
Familiarity with web content management systems (like TerminalFour) is a plus
Ability to coordinate others in order to reach deadlines

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
The Sustainability Intern for Employee Engagement supports SCU employees in exploring how sustainability integrates into their workplace and personal lives. This intern facilitates the Student Employees Sustainability Liaison (SEEDS) cohort, developing sustainability change agents among SCU student employees. This intern also specifically caters to SCU employees via goals of the Center for Sustainability, such as responsible consumerism and sustainable purchasing, as well as assisting with the organization of energy conservation initiatives and annual events including Campus Sustainability Day, Bike to Work Day, and the Sustainability Celebration & Champion Awards.

Qualifications:
Must have video/digital marketing experience
Confident in public speaking
Has an interest in engaging a broader audience beyond undergraduate students
