This Sustainability Intern for Zero Waste assists the University in working towards the goal of zero-waste to landfills by 2020. This intern engages the campus by promoting the 4R’s - reduce, reuse, recycle, and respect, leading reuse initiatives that divert waste from the landfill by reducing source waste and increasing the share economy on campus. This intern leads programs such as the Bronco Surplus Stand, Move-Out waste diversion in the residence halls, Zero Waste Zones, Lending Library, Share Shelf, and Swap for Good. The intern will play a major role in SCU’s strategic food waste reduction initiatives. Besides our typical 10-hr work week during the quarter, this internship position requires work during finals week (around your classes/finals), the first week of summer break, and Sept 5th through 17th. Employment through the summer is a possibility.

LOCALS is a group for students Living Off-Campus And Living Sustainability and it supports the development of sustainability change agents in the surrounding SCU neighborhood. This position also assists with facilitating the Student Sustainability Advisory Board.
