Sofritas Recipe - Alexandria Perez

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz extra firm tofu 
  • 1 & ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tbsp dried oregano 
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 7 oz canned tomato sauce
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • ½ onion 
  • 2 small tomatoes 
  • 2 bell peppers 

Directions:

  1. Blend cumin, oregano, chili powder, garlic powder, tomato sauce, vegetable broth, onion, tomatoes, and bell peppers until it reaches a slightly chunky consistency
  2. Press tofu block for 20 minutes, cut into rectangular "steak" pieces
  3. On medium heat, sear the tofu until slightly browned on both sides
  4. Place cooked tofu into food processor, blend until small pieces but still textured
  5. submerge tofu into the earlier mixture and let sit overnight
  6. When ready, heat mixture on medium heat for about 15 minutes, serve in desired capacity

(Optional: Heat up black beans and served in a bollio roll)
